Standard Chartered Gets a Boost From Wealth Management

Standard Chartered reported stronger earnings this July as its wealth management business continued to grow.

The bank’s first-half profit increased by 9%, performing better than expected. A major reason for the growth was higher income from wealth management and global banking services.

The results show how important wealth management has become for major banks. More customers are looking for professional help with investments, savings, and managing their money, creating new opportunities for banks to increase revenue.

Standard Chartered also announced a $1 billion share buyback, which helped increase investor confidence and pushed its Hong Kong-listed shares higher after the results were released.

As the second half of 2026 begins, investors will be watching to see if the bank can continue this growth and keep attracting more wealth-management customers.
